And the ...

Philippe doing field work with his graduate students a few yesterdays ago... Except for a currently white beard and (sparser) grey hair, the spirit is still very much the same today...

What he has done...

After his studies at Louvain (Belgium), The Johns Hopkins University, and the University of California, he worked successively at the University of Illinois, Cornell University, the SIMBIOS center in Dundee (Scotland), Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and AgroParistech (Paris, France).
During his career, he was editor-in-chief  of several scholarly journals, and organized multiple (>20) international conferences.
He wrote a number of research articles, which have been cited a number of times, but he does not want to encourage anyone to think that these numbers matter… Through it all, he has tried to promote an interdisciplinary perspective on soils and society. That matters.

What he is doing...

Aside from his activity in the Institute, he keeps writing articles on a variety of topics, in a range of disciplines.
He is also working on a book on higher education, which should be published in the US in 2025:
